    Description

    Auction is for the two hardcover Richard Watson books in the photos.   The first is Bitters Bottles published in 1965, 9 1/4" x 6 1/4", 304 pages, 1 lb. 9.6 oz.   The dustjacket on this fine book is trashed & shows a long tear, soiling, & water damage.   Happily the book is undamaged & has no torn or missing pages, & no notes.   All pages are tight to the spine.
    The 2nd book is Richard Watson's useful Supplement to Bitters Bottles, It is in very good condition, with a little wear to the rear of the dustjacket, but no other problems.    It has 160 pages of useful information & weighs 1Lb 0.7 oz.
    I believe these books were the first comprehensive guide to American Bitter bottles.   Since I have been too cheap to buy Ring & Ham's newer comprehensive guide to American Bitters, these have served me well through building a good, but not huge collection.   Of note is how Watson indicates rarity of Bitters by assigning them one to 6 stars.   The author also offered other historic information on bitters, as well as information on technical aspects of describing bottles.  There is no price guide in these classic books.
