Josephine Meyer Hand Painted Lidded Jewelry Box - Artisan Dollhouse Miniature

Such a lovely hand painted lidded trinket box by IGMA Artisan, Josephine Meyer.
This little box is made of wood and has been perfectly detailed by Josephine. The bottom of the box has been painted in pale peach with a center floral medallion in front.
The lip of the apron lid has either been left the natural wood color with a soft gloss or has been stained in cherry. It creates a nice dramatic visual at the top of the pale peach base when closed. The top of the lid is the real centerpiece of the  work, though. Josephine has painted it in pastel blues with a gorgeous large floral motif at the center, and a tiny floral detail in each of the four corners. The flowers are done in varying shades of pink, red, and white, surrounded by a green field of tiny leaves.
The lid is hinged at the back with two little strips of gold paper (so they look like brass but are finer than any actual brass fitting would be). The inside of the box has not been painted, so it is still the natural wood, and very pretty.
It never ceases to amaze me how beautiful Josephine's works of art are. To capture such detail, light, and style in such tiny works! In my opinion, she is unique and exceptional in her skills.
The piece is not signed on the bottom, but I bought it directly from Josephine at the 2019 Philadelphia Miniaturia Show, so I can attest to its authenticity.
This would be perfect as a trinket or keepsake box, or as a jewelry box. You could finish the inside with velvet or paint, if you prefer, or leave it as it is.
Josephine Meyers has been painting fine miniatures for over twenty years and achieved Artisan status in IGMA (International Guild of Miniature Artisans) in 2001.  Her paintings have been featured in Miniature Collector Magazine, Doll House Miniature magazine, and at IGMA Exhibits.

where she studied art and restoration. She also trained in
New York City
and worked on the restoration of early Renaissance paintings and abstract art.  She painted in large scale for years until a miniaturist commissioned her to paint a van Gogh piece for her dollhouse.
Her love for the works of the Old Masters – Renoir, Monet and Degas, to name a few – is only matched by her love for the world of Miniatures.  By combining the two, she is able to produce extraordinary art for you to display in your dollhouse.
Like the Masters, she works in oils on treated wood panel, giving great attention to the subtle mixing, blending, and application of color and surface texture to achieve greater naturalism and also capture the play of light on the surface of objects. She completes each painting without the use of tracing or photographic imaging, making each piece unique.  Most of her frames are handcrafted using wood moldings and sometimes a gold leaf application (although a few of her frames are cast resin).
