REPLACING GEARS NOTE 7500SS/8500SS
: If you are replacing the older BRASS gear with this newer BRASS/ALUMINUM version, you will also need to change your pinion gear to the newer 19P-7500. THE 19P-7500 GEAR IS DISCONTINUED AND NO LONGER AVAILABLE!
This means you can only replace the aluminum gear with aluminum gear as a repair. Upgrading is no longer possible.
750SSm/850SSm
: For the newer reels, the 8P-7500 pairs with 19-750M pinion. (The 750M pinion CANNOT be used on the older 7500SS/8500SS reels)
NOTE
: If the condition of the main gear and the pinion is good, but still seems a little rough, adding 1 to 3 shims should help. Add the shims to the main gear, handle side underneath the bearing. This should eliminate the roughness. The 154-30 shims are listed for sale separately on our store.
